Back to Pioneer Creek RV Park

We left Zephyr Hills and returned to the first RV Park we ever came to three years ago. To be honest we came here then because they were the first park that had a space for us. By the time our first visit was over we knew that this place was special. Upon returning this winter it once again has been affirmed that Pioneer Creek RV Park is indeed one of the friendliest places in Florida! Since being here we have returned to a couple of our favorite places and we were not disappointed this year either.

Our first trip was to the Edison and Ford Winter Homes to see how the properties may have been decorated during the Christmas Holiday almost 100 years ago. It still amazes me how many people in Florida eagerly decorate their homes for the Christmas Holidays but I really don’t know why I would consider Christmas to be a cold climate holiday.

The front of the Edison Home was lit up!
The main Dining Room was very pretty and decorated to the max.

We went back to the horses! Yes, we went back to see the Lipizzan horses and it was so very interesting. To be able to see the ancestors of horses that were rescued by General Patton was a treat but to get to see how they train them and learn more about the horses. We found out that these horses can live to be 40 years old so owning them is a commitment to say the least. It was difficult to hear of the struggle to keep going during the Covid 19 pandemic. To hear from the owners of how difficult it has been to support their stable was a little disheartening but to seeing how the family refuses to give up was very encouraging. If you have the chance to get to Myaka City, Florida take a few hours on Thursday, Friday or Saturday to go see the Herrmanns’ Royal Lipizzan Stallions.

The horses were trained to rear up so the Military Leaders could see over their troupes better during battle.
Imagine riding a horse that is trained to kick to defend you and itself.

We will be leaving here soon to continue our adventures in Florida. Although it has been one of the coldest winters here it is still a lot warmer than where we came from!

Thanks Edgar. Christmas decorations were very nice at the Edison’s home. Very interesting story on the lippazzin stallions.
Sounds like an adventure worth taking.
