Day two in Dubois it’s off to Yellowstone!

First off we are in a small very nice campground in Dubois, WY which is the closest place we could find in relation to Yellowstone Park and it is still over 90 miles to the south gate. The -only good thing about this is that we have to drive through Teton National Park to get the the south entrance of Yellowstone! On top of that I bought a senior pass to any national park and I believe that I only paid twenty-five dollars. This pass will get me and three other guests into any National Park for free.

This Mule Deer was just across the Wind River from our camp site.

Once we got into the park we didn’t have to go too far before seeing some wild life and trust me I am glad that it wasn’t any closer to the road. The rather large Grizzly Bear pictured below was maybe 50 yards off the road and it was still walking toward the road until just before I shot the photo below.

This Grizzly turned just before I got this shot.

Our first stop inside the actual park was to see Old Faithfull Geyser and as luck would have it we got parked and walked up to the site about 10 minutes after the eruption. Since Edgar was with us we had to be aware of where we went so we pulled up a log and waited. Judy ventured off to see some stuff but Edgar and I just sat there and made friends. It truly amazes me how people are just drawn to this lovable big headed dog.

Edgar is patiently waiting for the geyser or anyone that will come over and pet him.
Because Edgar wasn’t allowed on the platform I couldn’t get too close to Old Faithful.

Although Old Faithful is the most popular geyser in the park it isn’t the only one. As well there are all kinds of other way for the earth to vent the pressure all of which are very hot and because of the Sulphur most of them stink! There is one called Dragon Mouth Spring. Rumor has it that the Native Americans named it that because of the steam rushing out the hole.

Dragon Mouth Spring
I think that this hot spring looks like a growling bear but I would hope that a bear smelled better.

There was beautiful scenery everywhere as well as people so it takes a long time to see most of the park. If I ever go back I hope to spend several days in the park proper so we won’t have to camp 100 miles away. However one last picture of a water fall that we didn’t even see on the way in through Teton Park.

We didn’t even see this little spot while driving into Yellowstone.

Let’s hope our next adventure is as much fun.
