It is difficult to write a travel blog when you have no where to go.
Wow here it is the first of June and we have not posted anything new since February. I will try to fill in the gaps between then and now. We finally had to start north and we left The Glades and headed that way. While we attended the Super Show we got a certificate for some free camping and then at the Discovery Owners rally we won three nights of free camping at a second resort. Once on the road we stopped at Oak Alley RV Resort in Webster, Florida and although it wasn’t completely finished it was obvious that it will be a premier RV resort when it is. After leaving Oak Alley we went to Chiefland, FL to visit family and as usual with our family a fun time was had by most. Edgar got to spend a lot of time playing with a couple of crazy poodles. From there we went to Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park & RV Resort. This is supposed to be a very desirable RV park but to be honest I am glad that it didn’t cost us anything except a few noisy nights. They have signs posted that quiet time was from 10:30 PM til 8:00 AM but each night that we were there it sounded like a competition to see which nearby camp sight could be the loudest. I understand that if you are there on the weekends that they are actually hosting a music festival it is pretty much noisy all the time. The primary reason we stopped at this resort, besides being free, was that it was really close to the Florida, Georgia Line because our next stop was Perry Georgia for the FMCA National Rally. Although we had paid for a site with full hook ups it is always better to arrive with a full tank of fresh water and empty waste tanks just in case someone screwed up. This time everything was all right and we had a great time. Judy and I volunteered for different jobs and Edgar was a hit as usual. This year I volunteered to drive a six passenger golf cart to help people get around a little quicker. At this rally they had entertainment scheduled three nights, The first night was a comedian by the name of Jeff Allen and he was really funny. He has a lot of videos on You Tube if you want to see who he is. The next night they had Country Music artist Josh Turner performing and it was a fantastic show. I was scheduled to drive a cart that night so I got to sit in reserved seating just off to the left of the stage.
After leaving Perry we headed toward home but had to make a couple of stops on the way home. Our first stop was in Cleveland GA to visit a cousin and while we were there we went to Dahlonega, GA which is the location of the first gold mines in the US. Gold was found 20 years earlier than it was in California. Judy and I took the tour of the mine which is a great way to spend a rainy day in Georgia. From there we drove to Winston – Salem NC to visit one of Judy’s cousins and as usual a fun time was had by all. From there we blasted home and landed in the driveway on March 23. Since this is getting pretty long I will work on another post to get us finally caught up.
